Domestic violence, illegal drugs, LFA's prevalent in Molo
Senior Inspector Federico Silvestre, precinct chief of Molo police station said domestic violence, proliferation of illegal drugs and loose firearms are among the cases mostly recorded in the station's police blotter.
Records from the Molo police station showed that this early they have already arrested 10 persons who have violated Republic Act 9165 or violation of illegal drugs laws. Those arrested are either suspected drug users or drug pushers. They were arrested in the 19 drug operations which the Molo police have conducted from October 2005 until early part of January 2006. Police have also filed six cases against the suspects and confiscated 1.536 grams of shabu from the suspects.
He added that they have also confiscated three firearms, one .45 caliber pistol, a .38 caliber revolver, 22 caliber magnum revolver. Appropriate charges were filed against the holders of the loose firearms.
Silvestre said they had also recorded several cases of domestic violence in Molo to include cases of husbands beating their wives. However, the cases were all referred to the Women's and Children's Desk of the Iloilo City Police Office.
Fortunately, there was no report of cellphone snatching in the area as of press time.
With all the crimes affecting the residents, Silvestre said the police is still on the top of the situation. Police is always around to protect and maintain peace and order in the district, he said.
Silvestre observed that the uncooperative stance of the populace hampers the police from the conduct of operation particularly on illegal drugs.
He thus called on the cooperation of the residents to the police. We want the district to be peaceful and conducive to businessmen, Silvestre said.
